Gdańsk Airport Taxi to Chojnice: Route, Journey Time and Price
Chojnice sits about 120 km from Gdańsk Airport, in the south western corner of Pomerania, and for many travellers it is less a destination than a gateway to the Tuchola Forest: to Lake Charzykowskie, the Brda canoeing trail and the Tuchola Forest National Park. The problem starts after landing, because no direct train or coach leaves the terminal in that direction. Below is what actually decides the choice: the route, an honest journey time, a fixed price from 600 PLN (approx. 150 EUR) per car and a list of what that fare includes.
Chojnice is a county town where three historic regions meet: southern Kashubia, known locally as Zabory, Kociewie on the Czersk side and Krajna to the south west. The old town has kept its Gothic layout with the Człuchów Gate and sections of the medieval defensive walls, and a Gothic basilica rises above the market square. For some travellers this is the end of the journey: they come to visit family, for business, for university or for the county hospital.
For everyone else Chojnice is an interchange. It is the shortest way to Lake Charzykowskie, to Swornegacie on the Brda river and into the Tuchola Forest National Park, where the canoeing, cycling and sailing trails begin. In summer that traffic is mostly holiday travel, out of season it is more often work and family visits, but the transport picture is identical either way: Gdańsk Airport is the nearest airport with a wide route network, and there is no single journey from the terminal itself.
We cover neighbouring directions separately. For the southern corridor along the A1, meaning Tczew and Starogard Gdański, see Gdańsk Airport taxi to Tczew and Starogard Gdański, and for central Kashubia see Gdańsk Airport taxi to Kashubia. This article is only about Chojnice and the area around it.
We leave the airport onto the Tricity bypass, head south and then join the A1 motorway towards Toruń. We exit at the Swarożyn junction and continue on national road 22 through Starogard Gdański, Zblewo, Kaliska and Czersk. That is the standard approach to Chojnice: the first half is fast dual carriageway, the second runs on a single carriageway through forest and small towns. In total about 120 km and usually 1 hour 45 minutes.
Distance
About 120 km from the terminal to central Chojnice. Addresses in Charzykowy, Swornegacie or Brusy add anything from a few to twenty five kilometres.
Journey time
Usually around 1 hour 45 minutes. On road 22 the pace is set by lorries and by driving through built up areas, so the gap between quiet and busy hours is wider than on the motorway.
Stop on the way
There are service stations with toilets and coffee on the A1 and in Starogard Gdański. A short break on request is never a problem, especially on a drive of almost two hours with children.
There is also a variant through Kościerzyna, Lipusz and Brusy. It is more scenic but slower in practice, and we use it mainly when road 22 is disrupted. On evening and night arrivals the whole route is empty and the drive can be quicker than during the day. None of that changes the price: there are no night or weekend surcharges. We write more about after dark rides in night transfers from Gdańsk Airport, and about why traffic never raises the bill in does the price change in traffic or at night.
A transfer from Gdańsk Airport to Chojnice costs from 600 PLN (approx. 150 EUR) for the whole car. The price is fixed: we agree it when you book and confirm it by text message or e-mail before the ride. There is no meter, so queueing behind a lorry on road 22 or landing at two in the morning does not change the amount at the end of the journey.

Optional extras are a child seat or booster (+30 PLN each) and a stop along the way (+30 PLN), for example to collect keys to a cottage or to shop before you arrive. The base rate covers a car for up to 3 passengers; larger groups travel by van with an individual quote, which we explain in group airport transfers in Gdańsk. Beyond the first free hour of waiting we charge 1 PLN per additional minute. The full list of destinations is in our transfer price list, and the route data itself is on the Gdańsk Airport to Chojnice page.
If Chojnice is only a stopover, the most common destination is Charzykowy on Lake Charzykowskie, a few kilometres north west of the town. It is one of the more important sailing centres in this part of Poland, regarded as one of the cradles of Polish sailing, with a season extended into winter by ice yachts. The drive from the airport is only a few minutes longer, and since we confirm the price beforehand there is no question of counting extra kilometres on arrival.
A little further on lies Swornegacie, a village between the Brda river and lakes Karsińskie and Witoczno, where most canoeing trips in the region start, along with Brusy and the smaller villages of the Zabory Landscape Park. North east of Charzykowy the Tuchola Forest National Park begins, with its chain of ribbon lakes and trails through pine woodland. We quote those addresses individually, because a dozen or more kilometres of forest roads make a real difference to the journey time.
When you book, give the name of the property, the street and ideally a map link. In the Tuchola Forest many guesthouses and cottages sit along a single access road, often without numbers visible from the forest side, and some names repeat across several villages. One link saves a quarter of an hour of circling later. If you are heading further south from Chojnice, we cover Malbork, Toruń and Olsztyn separately, and towards central Pomerania the transfer to Słupsk.
A trip into the Tuchola Forest rarely means one suitcase per person. The boot takes large bags, a pushchair, sometimes fishing tackle, a helmet and cycling shoes, or a bag of sailing hardware. A standard car for up to 3 passengers normally takes three large suitcases plus hand luggage. If you are carrying more, write it in the notes when you book rather than hoping it will fit. We will send a bigger car and confirm the price in advance, not in the car park by the terminal. Capacities are set out in our guide to how much luggage space a transfer really has.
Bicycles and canoes are a separate conversation. A bike in a bag or boxed up travels fine once we have agreed the car, because it takes the space of two suitcases. Two bikes need a van. Mention it in your booking with the dimensions of the packaging and you will get a clear answer before you book, not after you land.
With children one thing matters: a seat that matches the age and height, ordered together with the ride. We carry infant carriers, seats for children from 6 months to 3 years and boosters for older children, each at 30 PLN. Tick them in the form, because we fit them before we leave for the airport, not after you arrive. Details are in child seats in airport transfers. In July and August book early, ideally as soon as you have your ticket, because weekend arrivals cluster into a few afternoon hours. How to prepare that booking is covered in how to book a Gdańsk Airport taxi in advance.
Chojnice is a railway junction with services in several directions, but not to the airport. From the station at the terminal you first have to reach Gdańsk Główny or Gdynia Główna and change there for a train running through Starogard Gdański and Czersk. In practice that is at least two legs with luggage plus platform waiting that turns into a lottery when your flight is late, and the whole trip usually takes more than three hours. The train is cheaper if you travel alone and light; with two people and suitcases the cost gap narrows while the gap in time and comfort stays.
Coaches and minibuses do run this way, but they leave from the bus stations in Gdańsk or Gdynia rather than the airport, and the timetables rarely match arrival times. Ride hailing apps usually take short hops, but over 120 km and at an unusual hour it happens that nobody accepts the job, and the price depends on the algorithm and demand at that moment. We compared the options in Bolt, Uber or a private transfer from Gdańsk Airport.
A transfer wins wherever predictability matters: you know the price before you fly, the driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name board, and if you are delayed he simply arrives later because we track the flight number. What to do when a flight is moved or cancelled is covered in delayed or cancelled flight: what to do.
The fare towards the airport is the same as from the airport, so the return from Chojnice is also from 600 PLN (approx. 150 EUR) per car. Book both rides at once and pay upfront and the return leg has a 10 percent discount. We count the pickup time backwards from departure: about 2 hours at the airport before a Schengen flight, almost two hours of driving and a margin for disruption on road 22, which a single incident can block along its whole length. For early morning departures that usually means leaving before five, with no surcharge for the hour. We set this out in more detail in when to leave for Gdańsk Airport.
Booking takes a few minutes. Give your address in Chojnice or nearby, the date, the time and your flight number, and if you are coming back, tick the return transfer straight away. Bookings made less than 2 hours ahead are taken by phone or WhatsApp. You choose how to pay: cash in zloty or euro, card, BLIK, bank transfer, or a VAT invoice for companies, which we explain in VAT invoices for airport transfers.
How much does a taxi from Gdańsk Airport to Chojnice cost?
A transfer from Gdańsk Airport to Chojnice costs from 600 PLN (approx. 150 EUR) for the whole car, up to 3 passengers. The price is fixed: we agree it when you book and confirm it by text message or e-mail. There is no meter and no surcharge for traffic, night hours, weekends or public holidays. The fare covers the arrivals hall pickup, luggage, flight monitoring and up to 60 minutes of waiting from the actual landing time.
How long does the drive from Gdańsk Airport to Chojnice take?
Usually around 1 hour 45 minutes over roughly 120 km. The first half runs along the Tricity bypass and the A1 motorway, then we continue on national road 22 through Starogard Gdański and Czersk. That last stretch is single carriageway, so we quote journey times with a margin rather than copying a satnav estimate taken at three in the morning.
Can you drive further, to Charzykowy, Swornegacie or Brusy?
Yes. Charzykowy is a few kilometres from Chojnice, while Swornegacie and Brusy are between ten and twenty five kilometres away. We quote those addresses individually, because the extra distance and time are real. When you book, give the name of the property, the street and ideally a map link, and we will confirm a fixed amount before the ride.
Is there a direct train from Gdańsk Airport to Chojnice?
Not from the station at the terminal. You first have to take a train to Gdańsk Główny or Gdynia Główna and change there for a service running through Starogard Gdański and Czersk. With luggage after a flight that means at least two legs plus platform waiting time, and a delayed arrival is what usually breaks the connection.
Is the price per person or per car?
Per car. The 600 PLN (approx. 150 EUR) rate covers a car for up to 3 passengers including luggage that fits the boot. For 4 passengers, bicycles or sailing gear we send a larger car or a van and quote the ride individually, always before you book.
Can I book the return trip from Chojnice to the airport at the same time?
Yes. Tick the return transfer in the form and give the date and pickup time. The return leg has a 10 percent discount if you pay for both rides upfront. The fare towards the airport is the same as from the airport, with no surcharge for an early departure.
