Gdańsk Airport Taxi to Szczecin: the S6 Route, Travel Time and a Fixed Price
From Gdańsk Airport to Szczecin you drive the S6 expressway along the whole Baltic coast, usually in 3.5 to 4 hours. Together with Warsaw it is the longest route in our price list, and the one where people most often ask whether the train would not be smarter. Below we explain when a transfer really pays off, what it costs (from 1800 PLN, approx. 450 EUR, per car), what is included, how onward trips to Świnoujście or Germany work and how to plan the ride back to the airport.
Szczecin has its own airport in Goleniów, but the route network there is small, and from many cities in the UK, Ireland, Norway or Sweden the direct flight goes to Gdańsk instead. That is why a large share of bookings on this route come from travellers who deliberately land in Pomerania and want to cover the rest of the journey in one car, with no changes. Four situations come up again and again.
No convenient flight to Szczecin
The direct flight to Gdańsk is cheaper, or simply the only one that day. A transfer turns the difference in fares into a comfortable ride to your door.
Late arrival
In the evening there is no sensible train left to Szczecin, and a hotel night in Gdańsk just to travel on in the morning costs money and half a day. A transfer leaves as soon as you walk out of arrivals.
Family or group with luggage
With three people and several suitcases one car is cheaper than a stack of tickets, and with four to eight people the difference gets even clearer.
Business trip
The port, shipyards, logistics and manufacturing companies around Szczecin and Police. A ride with a VAT invoice, time to work on the way and no timetable to watch.
If you travel alone with a backpack and are in no hurry, the train will be cheaper, and we say so openly in the comparison below. A transfer wins where time, luggage, group size or arrival time matter.
Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall of Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport with a name sign. From the terminal we join the Tricity ring road and then the S6 expressway, which heads west through Kashubia towards Lębork. From there the route runs parallel to the coast: past Słupsk, Koszalin and Goleniów, and finally into Szczecin, either through the districts east of the Oder or around the city to the west bank, depending on your address.
- Gdańsk Airport to Lębork: about 75 km on the new expressway, usually without surprises.
- Around Słupsk: about 130 km from the airport; on some stretches in Pomerania roadworks are still going on and traffic can be slower.
- Koszalin to Goleniów: a long, smooth dual carriageway and a good place for a break at a service station.
- Goleniów to Szczecin: the last leg, where rush hour can mean a queue on the way into the city.
The total is usually 3.5 to 4 hours. The least predictable times are Friday afternoons and summer weekends, when the S6 fills up with traffic to the seaside, and the morning peak inside Szczecin. So for meetings at a fixed time, or to catch a ferry in Świnoujście, we plan the departure with a buffer. It does not affect what you pay: the price is fixed, so a longer drive in traffic does not change the amount.
On a route this long a short stop at a service station on the expressway is standard, usually around halfway. Just tell the driver when you would like a break. Travelling with children, you can stop more often at no extra cost.
A transfer from Gdańsk Airport to Szczecin costs from 1800 PLN (approx. 450 EUR) for the whole car, up to 3 passengers. The price is fixed: we set it when you book and confirm it by SMS or e-mail before the ride. There is no meter, so neither roadworks on the S6 nor a queue into the city change the final amount.
| From Gdańsk Airport to | Distance (approx.) | Price per car |
|---|---|---|
| Lębork | approx. 75 km | from 370 PLN (approx. 93 EUR) |
| Słupsk | approx. 130 km | from 600 PLN (approx. 150 EUR) |
| Szczecin | over 300 km | from 1800 PLN (approx. 450 EUR) |
| Szczecin, 4 to 8 people | over 300 km | from 1850 PLN (approx. 463 EUR) |
Included in the price:
- Meet and greet in the arrivals hall with a name sign and help with luggage.
- Flight tracking and 60 minutes of waiting time from actual landing.
- Checked and hand luggage, and drop-off at your address in Szczecin.
- No surcharge for nights, weekends, public holidays or traffic.
- Payment in cash (PLN or EUR), by card, BLIK, Apple Pay, Google Pay or bank transfer, also against a VAT invoice.
Optional extras are a child seat, infant carrier or booster (+30 PLN each), an extra stop along the route (+30 PLN) and 50 PLN from the fourth passenger. After the first free hour of waiting we charge 1 PLN per extra minute, although with flight tracking this rarely happens. With three passengers it works out at 600 PLN per person, luggage and door-to-door drop-off included. See all destinations in our transfer prices and the route details on Gdańsk Airport to Szczecin. How to pick the right seat for your child is covered in child seats in an airport transfer, and larger parties in group transfers from Gdańsk Airport.
There is no domestic flight between Gdańsk and Szczecin, so in practice you choose between the train, a long-distance coach, a one-way car rental and a transfer. Each has its place.
| Option | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|
| Train | Cheapest for one person with light luggage. | First get from the airport to Gdańsk Główny station, then usually several hours on board, often with a change; few connections in the evening. |
| Long-distance coach | Low ticket price. | Fixed timetable, usually slower than a car, limited luggage, drop-off at a bus station rather than your address. |
| One-way car rental | Freedom of route. | One-way drop-off fee, fuel, and several hours behind the wheel after a flight. |
| Private transfer | Terminal door to your door in Szczecin, fixed price per car, departs at any hour. | More expensive than a rail ticket for a solo traveller. |
The simple maths: for one person the train will almost always win on price. With two or three people and luggage the gap shrinks, and once you add the trip to the station, waiting for a connection and possibly a hotel after a late arrival, the transfer is often the more sensible choice. With four to eight people one car from 1850 PLN usually beats a full set of tickets, and everyone arrives together at one address. We run the same numbers for our other long route in Gdańsk Airport taxi to Warsaw.
If you land at night, the train is practically out. Transfers run around the clock with no night surcharge, as we explain in night transfers from Gdańsk Airport.
For many passengers Szczecin is a point on the map rather than the destination. The city is only a few kilometres from the German border, and from Goleniów a road branches off towards Świnoujście, Międzyzdroje and the island of Wolin. These destinations have no fixed rate in the price list, so we quote them individually: you give us the exact address and we confirm the full price before you book.
- Świnoujście and Międzyzdroje: straight to the seaside without changing in Szczecin, also to the ferry to Scandinavia; tell us the sailing time and we plan the departure with a buffer.
- Police and the surrounding area: industrial sites and homes outside the city, dropped at a specific gate or address.
- Germany: across the border towards Pasewalk or Berlin, with the price agreed before the ride.
- The coast on the way: if you get off earlier, see our separate guides to Gdańsk Airport to Kołobrzeg and Gdańsk Airport to Lębork.
You can also combine destinations. For example, one person gets off in Słupsk and the rest continue to Szczecin. A stop like that at an address along the route costs 30 PLN, and we confirm the total when you book.
The price towards Gdańsk is the same as from the airport, so a pick-up in Szczecin to Gdańsk Airport is also from 1800 PLN per car; details are on the route page Szczecin to Gdańsk Airport. If you book both rides together and prepay them, the return ride is 10 percent cheaper. We work out the departure time backwards from your flight: about 2 hours at the airport before a Schengen flight, more for flights outside the zone, plus around 4 hours on the road with a buffer. For early morning flights that means leaving in the middle of the night, with no surcharge for the hour. We go into more detail in when to leave for Gdańsk Airport.
Booking takes a few minutes. Enter your address in Szczecin, the date, time and flight number in the form, and if you are planning to come back, tick the return transfer straight away. For a ride this long book ahead, ideally as soon as you buy your ticket; we explain how in how to book a Gdańsk Airport taxi in advance. Bookings less than 2 hours ahead are taken by phone or WhatsApp only. Companies receive a VAT invoice, see airport transfer with a VAT invoice.
