Toruń is one of Poland's most beautifully preserved medieval cities — a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Famous as the birthplace of Nicolaus Copernicus (1473), the city boasts an incredible concentration of Gothic architecture: the massive cathedral, ornate town hall, ruins of the Teutonic castle, the quirky Leaning Tower, and charming market squares. And of course — the legendary pierniki (gingerbread), produced here since the Middle Ages.
